Piecing Together; Mending, 2020
GAFFA Gallery, Sydney
This body of work has been completed on Gadigal land of the Eora nation, during the isolation period of the Covid 19 pandemic, sovereignty was never ceded.

These slow, meditative textiles and works on paper are exercises in intuitive collage. The works memorialize quiet moments of the everyday, and attempt to represent the physical distance and mental intimacy of our communities. Through the stitching together of shape and colour, new formations are found and healed. This focus on textiles comes from an acknowledgement of their passive presence in most aspects of life, whether through clothing, bedding, or more recently, masking. The piecing together and mending of textiles, allows for a meditative and physical practice of repairing, while being surrounded by the chaos of global events.
