ARCHIVING YOUR HISTORY OF HOME

Through this artist book making kit, you will explore your connection to place, home and land. You are invited to contemplate and respond to the prompts, as well as any other thoughts, feelings and research that comes up through the process. You can engage with drawing and writing techniques using the materials provided, but are encouraged to use whatever mediums work for you, such as painting, photography and collage.

Prompts:

  1. Where do you live? (Where is your house, what does it look like?) 1-2 pages

  2. Who are the traditional owners of the land you live on? 1 page

  3. What does home mean to you? 1-2 pages

    1. Is home a physical space? Is it tied to objects or significant people in your life?

  4. What does home feel like? 1 page

  5. How does your home influence your identity? 1 page

  6. What would it mean to lose your home, or sense of home? What if you had to leave? 1 page

  7. How does your home record/archive your personal or family history? 1-2 pages
